What’s Considered During the Remodeling Process?

Pipes

If any bathroom appliances need to be relocated or updated, it's likely their connecting pipes will need work as well. The age of the pipes will affect the level of work necessary.



Drains with cast iron pipes may deteriorate and go unnoticed. This is due to the fact that cast iron comes in many different grades, and the iron weakens from the inside out. Copper pipe can corrode from the inside out as well, but is more noticeable at soldered joints. Galvanized pipe must be replaced by the length of the entire run, as it is susceptible to corrosion that locks it in place, requiring breaking the line to be disassembled.

Sinks

Upgrading the sink and vanity area means loosening, removing, and lifting the sink from its surrounding area. Counter top sinks must be loosened from the sealing attaching them to the counter top.



Standalone sinks are also complicated to remove due to their heavier weight. Once replaced, there may be discrepancies between the pipe size in the bathroom and that of the new appliance. We’ll make sure your new sink installation fits correctly with your existing piping.

Tubs and Showers

Replacing tubs requires expert knowledge and experience. Improperly handling removal or installation can result in wall or floor damage, costly leaks, or the unseen development of hazardous mold.

If you have a cast iron tub, you know how heavy it can be; it may need to be broken in to remove it. In contrast, fiberglass and steel tubs can often be removed intact.

Installing a new tub requires exact measurements to make sure it will fit in the existing space. Even before being installed, the tub must be able to fit within the door frame of the bathroom.



Showers with poorly installed valves and pans can also cause damage to the surrounding area. If the shower floor and walls will be laid with tile, the thickness can affect the opening for faucets and diverters.

Toilets

Need to replace your toilet? Your older unit will need to be carefully removed to avoid cracking or damaging the floor. Before removal, we will drain your older toilet to avoid spills when carrying it out of your home.



The new toilet must then be situated properly on top of its wax cube, and tightly sealed to avoid leaks.
